        <h1><a name="kanchor4"></a>What is Stand-alone Licensing?</h1>
        <p>In case of stand-alone licensing, the Sentinel RMS License Manager is 
 not required. The licensed application looks for the default license file 
 (lservrc) in its local directory or at the location specified by <a href="Standalone_Application_EnvVariables.htm#LSERVRC">the 
 LSERVRC environment variable</a>.</p>
        <p>A licensed application will not run without a valid license code. However, 
 it may be delivered and installed without a license code. </p>
        <p>If the application is using a locked license, then you need to provide 
 the locking code of the system to the vendor. Using which, your developer 
 will generate a license code. Contact your vendor if the license code 
 is not included with the product. Your vendor will then give you the further 
 instructions on how to proceed.</p>
        <p class="SFNT_Note">If your previous 
 license code has expired then you need to get a new or upgrade license.
